Proud Sinners and Their False Conversions

Image
It's indeed a cause to be outraged if anybody can say that repentance of sin equals salvation, that repentance doesn't save anyone and that you can be saved and still remain the same. It should be a ground to warn the person of the possibility of a false conversion. Such people who want Christ and their sinful pleasures, covetousness and immorality are misled by this deadly heresy. Except people repent they will all likewise perish. Even in the announcement of Jesus' birth, Matthew 1:21 says that Jesus came to save people from their sins and not in their sins. It's a horrible heresy to each that Jesus saves people in their sins and not from their sins and that sinners may remain the same after conversion. Its' the doctrine of the perpetually carnal Christian today that has already sent a lot of people to Hell today. Many today just "pray a prayer" and they never understood the Gospel. While I have nothing against sinner's prayer evangelism because

Charles Spurgeon on Two Creations

Image
There are two creations to which we can marvel. The first one was that man was created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26-27 says, "And God said, Let Us make man in our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them." When God was talking, it wasn't to angels but to the Son and the Holy Spirit. John 1:1-10 shows that the Word was with God and the Word was God and is God. It couldn't be angels because they couldn't create but only God can create. 1 John 5:7 which is missing in many modern translations says that there are three that bear witness: the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost. The other conformation is for the Christian. Romans 8:29 says, "For whom he did foreknow, He also did pre

The Dangers of Preaching the Lie That Jesus Doesn't Save People From Their Sins

Image
The Reformed Protestant preacher Arthur W. Pink had given a warning about the present day evangelists of his day. Sad to say that even after his death, the present day evangelists of Pink's day are still continuing the same plague that may be called as "Easy Christianity". The problem today is that we have a generation of people who want to receive Christ without rejecting the world which is impossible (John 15:18-19). What's worse is that "Easy Christianity" has its followers calling those who preach the hard gospel as "works salvation promoters" or any smear they can name just to enjoy their sin. One of the worst heresies that generates a lot of false conversions is the perpetually carnal Christian. That heresy teaches that someone may get saved and still remain the same. They misquote 1 Corinthians 3:1 which they say that carnal Christians exist. The term "carnal Christian" is made to justify the perpetually carnal Christian. While

Sola Parochus or Sola Scriptura?

Image
Sola Scriptura or "Scripture alone" is not the same as Solo Scriptura. It's okay to have lots of books on theology but make sure they agree with the Bible. Likewise, Sola Scriptura is also a safeguard against the heresy of "Sola Parochus" which means pastor alone. While the pastor is tasked to definitely feed people with understanding (Jeremiah 3:15) but do note that Jeremiah also warns of pastors who have erred from their duty from Jeremiah 2:8, 10:21, 12:10, 22:22 and 23:1-2. God condemns wicked pastors and He honors pastors who are His Jeremiah 3:15 pastors. It's a huge problem when people don't decide to discern with the Scripture. Instead, they decide to let the religious leaders preach everything for them. It's stupid to criticize Roman Catholics for blindly following the Pope, Mormons for blindly following their mission president or INC members for blindly following the executive minister when you've got people who have the "becau

It's Sickening How People Can Sympathize with Criminals over the Victims of Crime

In a world that loves sin, it's already expected to get people to sympathize with criminals over the victims of crime. The call for abolishing death penalty is nothing more than a joke. Some people even claim that death penalty isn't even an effective deterrent to crime. The Vatican is also participating in the same sick joke for several years. It's no surprise to me how the world today cries foul against the death penalty saying it's inhuman and taking many verses out of context. What verses are these? Here's a few verses I can remember were taken out of context: Exodus 20:13 Deuteronomy 5:17  John 8:7 Those are just a few verses that get habitually taken out of context. But let's know that the whole "thou shalt not kill" actually means "thou shalt not murder" in today's modern language. While I personally prefer the King James Bible and I'm personally a King James only-ist but I try to study the Greek and Hebrew in contex

Faith is Only Strengthened in Trials

Image
There's a statement that a faith that's not tested can't be trusted. God tests faith not because He wants to find out how strong it is. Instead, he tests the faith of Christians so they could find out how strong the are and how God plans to make them stronger. The whole point is that an authentic faith stands true to the trials. Christians have authentic faith that grows but there are times of doubt. The feelings of Christians are feeling and they may feel "unsaved" even if they're saved. Here are verses concerning trials: 1 Peter 1:3-8 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. wherein ye greatly rejo

If Salvation Was By Just "Being a Good Person" Were True Then Christ Died in Vain!

Image
It's politically incorrect these days to say that salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ. To preach that has already been considered a hate crime even if it's not a hate crime. A hate crime is defined as a crime motivated by prejudice typically involving violence. To warn others about sin and judgment is not a hate crime as the politically correct self-proclaimed liberals would want you to believe. Besides, Isaiah 32:5 has declared that no longer shall vile people be considered liberals! Today, we have the idea that all religions worship the one true God but only in different ways. I remembered reading some official Roman Catholic materials on the late Teresa of Calcutta. In one of the materials about her, she has said that there are many religions that serve God in different ways. What's important is that we're all good people. She was a good friend of the late John Paul II. While there were some admirable things she did like helping the poor (which doesn't

The Call Not to Render Evil for Evil But to Overcome Evil with Good

Image
It's really hard to forgive isn't it? It's very easy to confuse forgiveness with letting go of justice or one's rights to complain if one is ever mistreated. The issue of forgiveness is not negating justice but all about enforcing it. Justice punishes wrong like enforcing death penalty against crimes against life to protect society. Revenge on the other hand is putting the law into one's hands for one's own convenience. It's like how a person decides to even harm others who aren't involved just to hurt the person. Justice only punishes the wrongdoer while revenge may even seek to punish those who did no wrong. That's the difference between the two. One respects the eye for an eye tooth for a tooth principle while the other doesn't. It's very hard to also not to return evil with evil. Fallen humanity is prone to wanting revenge instead of letting it go. Do you know why Israel today is still at war with many of its neighboring nations? It&#

It's the Same Old Problem That Many People Think That They're Basically Good

Image
Judges 17:6 and 21:25 addresses this annoying truth about mankind that people do what they think is right in their own eyes instead of God's righteousness. Romans 10:2 also warns that people would try to establish their own righteousness while being ignorant of the righteousness of God. It's the same old problem since the fall of man is that many of them think they're basically good. That's one of the biggest lies that sinful man has ever made is that they say they're basically good. It doesn't take one to be an atheist to buy the lie that man is basically good. Some practice some form of liberation theology where they believe that man is basically good because God made man. It's true God made man but ever since the fall one must realize that man is not basically good. Just tell them they're sinners and they're ready to tear people apart. The problem is that this heart that's so hardened in sin may love sin a lot while thinking nothing is wro

Arthur W. Pink on Why Atheists Hate God

"It is the unquestionable prerogative of the Most High to have dominion over His creatures, to make known His will unto them, and to demand their subjection thereto. But their breaking of His bands and their casting away of His cords from them (Psalm 2:3) are a practical rejection of His rule over them. Practical atheism, my reader, consists of an utter contempt of God, a conducting of ourselves as though there were none infinitely above us, who has an absolute right to govern us, to whom we must yet render a full account of all that we have done and left undone, and who will then pronounce sentence of eternal judgment upon us." ~ Arthur Pink, "The Doctrine of Human Depravity" Atheism claims there's no God but many times expresses their anger and contempt for God. Ever since the fall of man, men wanted to be free from God so they can do what they want. Cain chose to flee to the Land of Nod rather than repent of his sin. God gave Cain the chance to repent but

The Sad Reality That Self-Seekers Aren't Bound For Heaven

Image
Why do many people hate the Gospel? It's because the Gospel has never been meant to cater to the self-seeking. The account of the rich young ruler and Jesus (Matthew 19:16-22, Mark 10:17-27 and Luke 18:1823) reveal the problem of self-seekers. The rich young ruler saying that he had kept the law since childhood is the problem of people people today. He wanted to seek eternal life but he was on the self-seeking side. He thought he was good enough. Jesus' remedy was to really address the fact that you couldn't keep the whole Law. Jesus said in Mark 10:23-24 about the problem of trusting riches. Does being rich send you to Hell and the poor go to Heaven? You can be poor all you want and still end up in Hell. Any poor beggar who dies rejecting Jesus ends up in Hell with every other person that dies without Jesus. God doesn't spare you from Hell just because you're poor or automatically send you to Hell just because you're rich. It's all dependent on whether

Just Because a Church's Got a Lot of Members Doesn't Mean It's Faithfully Serving God!

Image
People tend to think that majority wins means when majority agrees then it must be right or it must be accepted. What's often ignored is this fact that while there are times that the majority can be right but the majority doesn't make it right. What's right and wrong has never been about numbers but about facts. Everyone can go ahead and deny the facts but that doesn't change the truth. The problem today is that people have the mentality that if the majority agrees with it then it must be right. You often hear people telling people, "Observe everyone and blend in with the crowd." While one must really fall in line when one must fall in line but even if more people don't want to fall in line, you must still fall in line when one must fall in line! That's quite different than believing that if the majority does it then it must be right! Jesus had warned in Matthew 7:13-14 saying, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad i

Arthur Pink on David's Flight

Here's a powerful reading from Arthur W. Pink from David's Flight: Do not expect a smooth and easy path! Ah, my reader, if you are one of God's elect—do not expect a smooth and easy path through this earthly wilderness—but be prepared for varying circumstances and drastic changes. The Christian's resting place is not in this world, for "here have we no continuing city" (Hebrews 13:14). The Christian is a "pilgrim," on a journey; he is a "soldier," called on to fight the good fight of faith. The more this is re ... alized, the less keen will be the disappointment, when our ease is disturbed, and our outward peace harshly broken in upon. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous," and if 'troubles' do not come to us in one form—they most certainly will in another! If we really appropriate this promise—then we shall not be so staggered when afflictions come upon us. It is written that, "it is necessary to pass

Loving People Enough to Tell Them the Whole Truth!

Image
Galatians 4:16 says, "Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?" Those are the words that St. Paul had written to the Galatians. The problem today is that the world has redefined love into tolerance of error, the truth is limited to what's convenient but you're never allowed to speak the truth should it offend. It's the problem of promoting politically correct behavior over biblically correct behavior. People get to decide what's true and what's false based on political correctness or majority wins rather than go by the Word of God. After all, isn't the whole world in rebellion against God as James 4:4 calls the friends of the world the enemies of God? You can always say the truth without loving but you can never love without saying the truth. One says the truth to hurt or offend or one can say the truth out of concern. Let's take the example of the loving parent who tells the truth to the child why they aren't allowed

Sorry Atheist, God Won't Change His Mind About Your Sin on Judgment Day!

"Here is terror for the wicked. Those who defy Him, break His laws, have no concern for His glory, but live their lives as though He did not exist, must not suppose that, when at the last they shall cry to Him for mercy, He will alter His will, revoke His word, and rescind His awful threatenings. No, He has declared, "Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them" (Ezek. 8:18). God will not deny Himself to gratify their lusts. God is holy, unchangingly so. Therefore God hates sin, eternally hates it. Hence the eternality of the punishment of all who die in their sins." ~ Arthur Pink, "Gleanings in the Godhead - The Immutability of God" The quote above by Arthur W. Pink addresses one issue. Many people today want God to just to go away. The reason is that people just love their sin. Many want to defy Him and break His laws and they live

It's Rejecting Sola Scriptura That Creates Several Pseudo-Christian Groups

Image
There's a Roman Catholic myth that Sola Scriptura has created 33,000 Protestant denominations. But really are there 33,000 Protestant denominations? Bro. Gerry Soliman of Solutions Finder Apologetics wrote an article on the 33,000 denomination myth . The whole idea is bogus according to a Roman Catholic source the National Catholic Register. But there's one truth that can be said that it's rejecting and not embracing Sola Scriptura that has caused a huge epidemic of a rise of pseudo-Christian groups. From Roman Catholicism to various pseudo-Christian groups here and there were a result of rejecting Sola Scriptura. The claim by some Roman Catholic apologists that Sola Scriptura means condoning to certain evils is already implying that God is condoning to certain evils when He can't and won't go against His holy nature. Some of them have gone so far as to say that our modern conception of slavery was condoned by the Bible. Was the slavery in the Bible really sl

Preachers Who Don't Use Their Bible as the Final Authority Are Like Sky Divers Not Using Their Parachutes as the Only Way to Land Safely

Image
Do you know why a sky diver needs a parachute? It's in order for them to have a safe fall. No sky diver is ever complete without a parachute. Likewise, a preacher without a Bible is not a preacher at all. No preacher is ever complete without a Bible. 1 Timothy 6:3-5 says, "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself." The idea of having a lot of wind which lands to a bad ending is this. When any preacher puts himself above the Bible like the Pope claims he's the vicar of Christ and that only Rome can interpret the Bible then that person is like a sky diver without a parachute. The moment

You Can't Understand the New Testament Without the Old Testament

Image
It's a problem when people say that the Old Testament is irrelevant due to the fact we're in the New Testament. But what's really ignored is this that how can you understand the Old Testament without the New Testament? You can't! Even when you read the New Testament, passages of the Old Testament are still being read whenever there's the phrase, "It is written." Jesus blasted Satan off with the Old Testament Scriptures, He quoted from the Old Testament Scriptures to show prophecies were fulfilled in the New Testament. The Old Testament also has the prophecies about the Messiah which were fulfilled in the New Testament. It wouldn't make any sense to study anything in the New Testament without analyzing what was said in the Old Testament. When Peter preached his first sermon in  Acts 2, he was quoting from the Old Testament to point to the Messiah, the Lord Jesus. It led some Jews who were involved in the crowd of crying, "Crucify Him!" to re

The Reformation is Still Going On!

It's July 1 and July 31 happens to be the feast day (and death anniversary since he died on July 31, 1556) of the founder of the Jesuit Order, Ignatius of Loyola. The Jesuit Order was created as part of the Counter Reformation together with the Council of Trent to counter the ongoing Reformation. While some people think that the Reformation is over but it isn't. How is the Reformation not over? As long as there are men of God who are willing to preach the Gospel, the Reformation continues. One may say Martin Luther started the Reformation but before him there were already other reformers like former Catholic priest John Hus who became a born again Christian. The death of William Tyndale didn't stop the Reformation. Instead, it encouraged the Reformation to go on. Then Calvinist scholars like the Puritans came about. From Calvinist scholars also came the Authorized Version of 1611 or the beloved King James Version. The Roman Catholic institution has been known for meddlin
